The Navy Layered Ocean Model is used to study the long term variability circulation off the Pacific Mexican coast.
The unusual characteristics of the Gulf of Tehuantepec (strong winds blowing across the coast) and the Gulf of California (high evaporation) have gained the attention of local and foreign oceanographers. Now, we are investigating the interannual variability of the circulation along all the Pacific Mexican Coast.
The non-linear high-resolution (1/16°) global model reproduces some of the observed characteristics off the Pacific coast of Mexico (e.g., eddies in gulf of Tehuantepec).
