I am interested in the application of transient tracers, especially CFCs, to studies of ventilation, mixing, and circulation. My particular interests cover a broad range of topics. I am particularly interested in the North Pacific and its marginal seas. Among my interests in this region are :

• The ventilation and circulation of the Subtropical and Central Mode Waters within the subtropical gyre.
• The formation, ventilation, and circulation of North Pacific Intermediate Water.
• The role of the Sea of Okhotsk in ventilating the North Pacific.
• The unusual distributions of tracers in the Bering Sea.
• The exchage of waters between the subpolar and subtropical gyres, and between the subtropical gyre and the tropical circulation.

Other areas of interest include the northward spreading of bottom waters in the South Pacific, as well as the sources of these bottom waters, the possibility of combining ADCP and tracer measurements in the equatorial region, and the use of the tracers to "refine" oceanic GCMS.
