I am interested in several aspects of the circulation, mixing and interbasin exchanges of Antarctic Waters in the Pacific Ocean. In the last couple of years I have combined historical hydrography with part of the more recent data collected during the WHP. Analyses of WOCE Chlorofluorocarbons measurements made by Dr. Bullister and other U.S. groups have also helped in determining pathways, mixing and ventilation processes for the denser waters entering the South Pacific Ocean from the Southern Ocean (e.g., 1996 U.S. WOCE Report).
With the incorporation of all WOCE hydrography my research interests become as broad as wishful. I plan to take advantage of this meeting and explore potential collaboration with other WOCE scientists. Among the topics I would like to investigate are the updated frontal distribution of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), its variability and relationship with the intensity of the Deep Western Boundary Current Systems, decadal variability in the characteristics of water masses of the ACC, and the basin-wide circulation of CFC-bearing waters (like the AAIW and SAMW) below the thermocline.
All of the compiled data sets that I currently have are in netcdf format; and they are easily accessed by software packages such as MATLAB and EPIC. Profile data from the World Ocean Atlas 1994 CD-ROM series are among the available data sets.
