CREAMS-2000 Circular Letter

Time and Venue. The International Symposium on Oceanography of the East Asian Marginal Seas (CREAMS-2000) will take place in the Hyundai Hotel, Vladivostok, on May 15-16, 2000. Working language will be English. Plenary sessions will be organized on Monday and Tuesday accompanied by posters and informal discussions on various topics (e.g., remote sensing, modeling, etc.). Banquet is scheduled on Tuesday night.

Transportation. The most convenient connections with Vladivostok are via Niigata, Japan (Vladivostok Air flights on Sunday and Thursday) and via Seoul (Korean Air flights on Saturday and Vladivostok Air flights on Wednesday and Friday). Please, contact Local Organizing Committee if you need assistance in ticket reservations.

Visas. To arrange Russian entry visa, foreign participants will need invitations from Vladivostok Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To arrange such invitation, please send the following information to the Local Organizing Committee at least one month before the meeting: 1) scanned copy of your passport front page with photo; 2) dates of arrival and departure.

Hotels. To arrange discount rates at the Hyundai Hotel (about US$120 per night) early reservations are recommended. Please, inform Local Organizing Committee on your arrival/departure dates as soon as possible. Otherwise, daily rates may be in the range US$150-180. There is possibility to stay in the "economy" hotels for about US$40-60. Please, indicate your preference.

Proceedings. Requirements for preparation of papers to be published in the Proceedings will be circulated during the meeting.

Tours. Two kinds of alternative local tours are available: 1) bus tour around the city for about 2 hours; or 2) bus/ferry tour to the Russian Island for about 4 hours. For those arrived on Saturday, tours will be available on Sunday morning. For those arrived on Sunday, tours will be available on Wednesday morning. Details will be provided in the information package during registration (upon arrival).
